Katie said her goodbyes to Carla, Jobby and friends as she grabbed a dunkin’ donuts coffee and hit the road for Colin’s Christening.
Katie was impressed to see Dermot in his suit (that has been all over the US….in the back of the car), looking well pressed (thank you Lisa!) and ready to be godfather. We got to see lots of family and headed back to John and Lisa’s house for the celebration. Colin was a typical third child (perfect) and didn’t make any fuss during the ceremony or the celebration…. Minus a diaper “blow-through” that ended up on Dermot’s Mom’s dress.
After a delicious dinner, cookies and cake, we hit the road to see Dermot’s high school friends for dinner #2 (and we wonder how our ‘seats’ are getting larger??). We had a great time reminiscing about our trip, as well as meeting Dermot’s three friends babies- Dylan, Brianna (sorry Charissa, if we misspelled) and Jackson. To prove we are growing older right before our eyes, our conversions went from high school memories, to 5 year reunions to the 10 year reunion (this year), to the specifics of birthing a child and ended with different types of baby poop and the ways it can find out of the diaper. Yes. We have ….evolved.
We retreated to Dermot’s parent’s house to go to sleep with a re-emphasized appreciation and respect for parenting.
