After a great nights rest, we headed out of Carla and Jobby’s house and back to Cheshire. (Little unknown fact: Dermot called Mr. Barnett and asked for permission to marry Katie while Katie was in the shower).
After packing up Dermot’s stuff in Cheshire, and enjoying a delicious lunch at his parent’s house—we stopped for dessert at Wentworth’s for some ice cream… Thank goodness we did, because realized Dermot forgot his bag with his passport in it at Jobby/Carla’s house!!! Let the adventures begin…. so Carla was kind enough to meet us half way with the bag.
Back in NYC, Katie organized some stuff for the trip. We started running out of time, so we headed down to Puck Fair happy hour with friends. At 8:15 we left for our 8:00 p.m. reservation at Fireside up near Central Park (Katie had a hard time saying goodbye to her friends… and didn’t know the magnitude of the night to come).
After an eclectic dinner featuring foods from all over the world, we went to Central Park for a horse and buggy ride around Central Park. After the buggy ride, Katie reluctantly agreed to go for a walk in Central Park (safety first!).
At around 10:30 p.m., Dermot got down on one knee and asked her to make him the happiest person in the world and marry him to which Katie replied “Absolutely” and the rest is as they say is history. Katie called her Mom, Dermot called his sister and then they headed back to Michael and Erin’s to have a celebratory toast of some Veuve Clicquot and then the fiancés headed to bed.
