From Honolulu, we flew into Seattle and just barely made our connection to Denver, Colorado. We arrived safely in Denver, but our bags unfortunately did not have the same fate. They did not make the flight in time. Luckily, though, they were hand delivered to our hotel in Vail. At the Denver Airport, we met up with Katie’s friend Katie, who flew in from her brother’s place in New Mexico. After waiting in line for an hour, we got our mid-sized SUV for our drive to Vail.
In Vail we met up with Carla and Jobby who recently had their first child named Connor. We also met up Katie’s friend John, his brother Jimmy and Jimmy’s girlfriend. Together, we all skied, apres skied and even went out to eat in the restaurant Katie used to work at in her former life as a ski bum.
We also have to give a huge shout out to Brendan and Meaghan, Katie’s friends who live in Vail, who hooked Dermot up with a pair of goggles and showed us the local perspective of Vail life.
Vail had received 15 feet of snow this season, so the conditions were perfect. It was great to see our friends before we left the U S of A and started the biggest leg of our trip away from home.
