Day 187- 189: Culburra Beach, Australia
We had a nice and smooth 3 hour drive down the coastal highway to Culburra Beach. After arriving at our house, we decided to head out to get something to heat. The town isn’t exactly “busy” so we drove about 30 minutes north and ate at the Great Southern Hotel Restaurant. Matt and his friend Scott met us there and after dinner we headed home, anxious to get our surfing weekend started. Scott was the only person to get up and surf early. Matt and Dermot woke at a more “normal” hour and hit the water with the ladies at around 10 a.m. Back into town for some brekkie and shopping to stock up on supplies for the house. Some more surfing and then some BBQ back at the house. Katie attempted to make her friends’ Becca and Liz’s famous dutch babies egg dish, but unfortunately the oven did not work and the result was an edible, but not exactly delicious set of sweet scrambled eggs. We continued the beach-home for food-beach pattern for the rest of the weekend. Dermot got up on and rode in a wave in Australia for the first time and every enjoyed themselves down in Culburra.
On the way home to Sydney we stopped in Port Jervis where we unfortunately found out that dogs are not allowed (animal'ists :( . . . .) We grabbed food to go and then made our sad, but inevitable ride back to Sydney. The weekend was over and our friends had to go back to work (at least we didn’t!).
