We traded in our cross country mobile for a soccer mom mini van, as we volunteered to babysit overnight for Katie’s niece and nephew. We were over to Jorie and Dan’s house bright and early to learn the ‘morning routine.’ Then the four of us met Mr. Barnett, the Birthday Boy, out for breakfast. Katie’s Dad also got married to her mom 38 years ago today!
After we said good bye to the parents, Dermot and Katie worked on their trip planning- got Jersey Mikes Subs… and BOOM. It was already time for the kids to come home.
In true Aunt and “Uncle” fashion, we spoiled the kids rotten with a trip to the pumpkin patch, chuck e. cheese and pizza for dinner. And of course, we stayed up way past their bed times, but made sure that baths, nighttime stories and backrubs were all administered by 8:50pm, just in time for the season premiere of Grey’s Anatomy. (….thank GOD you can watch online, so Katie won’t miss a thing!) But WAIT… Katie just tried to do this, and got REJECTED from ABC.com with the message: “Only viewers within the United States can watch these full-length episodes.” Man…the USA are SNOBS! haha….
After a full day of pretend parenting, we were off to bed without a fuss…
