We woke up early, packed our stuff and headed up to the house for breakfast with Uncle Mick and Bernie. Another traditional Irish fry. We were running a bit behind, so we said goodbye, got in the car and they made our way for Shannon Airport. We only made on stop, because Katie wanted to take a picture of what she claims was the biggest rainbow she had ever seen.. .but we didn’t find the leprochan…. 2.5 hours later were arrived at Shannon with plenty of time to spare. We checked our baggage and then headed into the lounge where there were about 50 U.S. Air Force people in full camos waiting to return home to America.
Thanks to Ryanair we had a very inexpensive ticket purchased from Shannon to London Gatwick. Unfortunately, this airline is a stickler for luggage and Dermot’s golf bag cost 30 Euro to bring along, which was actually more expensive than his actual ticket. All that aside, we had a quick 1 hour flight to London. We arrived at our “Irish” themed B + B put our bags away and got some work done on their free wireless internet. We headed into town for a traditional English dinner at a Pub called Ye Olde Six Bells. The food was decent and the cask ale was great (which is more or less what you expect at an English pub). We then walked around the town for a bit, picked up some sweets for dessert and then headed back to the B + B to watch some TV, before going to bed early since we had the alarm set to 4:30 a.m. for our 7:00 a.m. flight to Iceland.
