Dermot and I took a walk over Laurelhurst Park for some exercise. We brought our tennis rackets and found an open court. Dermot beat Katie 6-2 and getting to run around outside was great. Dermot went for a quick run around the park and then we headed back to Tommy’s apartment. The car looked filthy, so we decided to wash it. With limited resources, we used a storage container, a beach towel and some Palmolive to get the car shining. Then back into Tommy’s apartment for some webpage updating, laundry and organizing before we get on the road for the Oregon State Fair on the way to California.
In the early afternoon we got on the road to the Oregon State Fair in Salem, OR. We ate bbq, won $4 at bingo, saw award winning sheep, cows, Shetland ponies and of course, pigeons (we took a picture for you Carla). We also tasted award winning Oregon wines, and tried probably the worst ear of plastic tasting corn ever. Yuck.
After all the fun we could take, we hit the road for California! We decided to pop-in our first ‘CD on Tape’ as Katie likes to call it, Shadow Divers. The story enthralled us– 2 divers finding an undiscovered U-Boat 60 miles off the coast of Katie’s Parent’s Hometown in Brielle, NJ. Since we were so drawn into the book, we grabbed Taco Bell and a loosing OR scratch lotto ticket and stayed on the road. We ended up finding a camp site right on the ocean in Crescent City, CA and fell asleep to the sounds of ocean waves and mating sea lions.
